Happy New Year friends!! I’m super excited about what this year has in store for my business and YOURS! One of the things I’m focusing on is Instagram engagement. How about you?
If one of your goals this year is to drive more traffic to your website and increase your sales this is the post for you. I put together five things you can do TODAY to increase your engagement on Instagram and drive more traffic to your website.
If you’re a bit behind on your goal setting, check out these two posts to get the ball rolling and let me know in the comments what you’re going to achieve this year!
Setting Goals Based on Your Values
Once you’ve them written, I’d love it if you shared them in our Facebook group.
It makes them REAL and you never know who is listening and able to support you on your journey.
Ok, let’s jump into it! What are five things you can do TODAY to increase your clothing line’s Instagram Engagement?
One | Update Your Bio
Make sure that your bio CLEARLY states what you’re offering. Don’t get too fluffy, tell people:
- What type of product your offer
- Why it’s special
- Where you ship to (worldwide, North America, etc.)
Make it easy and clear for your customer to understand who you are. When they “know” you, they are much more likely to engage with you.
Two | Update Your Website Link
If you are working on creating a relationship with your customer before you launch your product, direct them to an “Opt In” form where you can collect their email address. This will give you direct access to let me know when you do launch.
If you’re already selling product, put a link directly to your specific product page in your bio!! They can always navigate away from it once they land on your site but most likely they’re clicking through because of your most recent product post and you want them to get there as quickly as possible.
Make the shopping experience as easy for them a possible and send them to exactly what they’re looking for.
Three | Use Hashtags That Are Specific To Your Niche
We all know we should be using hashtags to grow our reach but are you using the right ones? You want to be attracting the right people to your product not just anyone so make sure you are targeting them with the best hashtags for your product niche.
For example, #love is super popular but most of the people looking at #love are not going to be interested in your specific product.
On the other hand, if you use #kidsstyle or even more specific #babyleggings you are going to be getting your product into a feed where people are definitely looking for your specific product.
A few SUPER QUICK ways to find relevant hash tags is to look at:
- what your competitors are using
- the hashtags influencers in your niche are using
- what you ideal customer is using (I’m sure you have a “friend” that you stalk on Instagram anyways so you may as well make it useful.)
Four | Optimize Your Hash Tags
This is weird but I’d recommend putting into effect what other people have researched and discovered.
- The optimal number of hash tags is between 9 and 11
- The optimal length for a hashtag is between 21-24 characters (don’t get crazy on this one but know that a little long is better since it is more specific and more likely to get you connected to the RIGHT person for your product)
Five | Write Compelling Content With Each Post
Actually sharing something of value in your comments converts and I get it, this takes time. But, since you’ve already taken the time to get an image ready, take a few extra minutes to write a post that people will want to read. Some ideas are:
- Share something that is going on with you or your business. It’s called SOCIAL media for a reason. They want to know what’s going on behind the seasons.
- Share a story about something that would be important to your customer, for example a local beach cleanup if your customer is interested in cleaning up the planet.
- Let your personality shine through. Not everyone is going to love what you have to share but the people that are looking for you will be so glad to have found someone so honest and open.
- Add a call to action at the end of EVERY post. This could be as simple as asking them to check out your new product (and direct them to the link in your bio that you’ve updated) or asking them a question and asking for a response in the comments.
So that’s it. Five things you can do RIGHT NOW to increase your Instagram engagement and start getting more traffic to your website or etsy account. I tried to make this short and sweet so it’s not overwhelming. These are small steps that you can make but the small steps add up to big things.
I’d love to hear if this was quick and easy for you and if there is anything you want to dive deeper into. Leave me a comment below. Excited to see your engagement go up and your sales to BLOW up!
