Choosing a platform to sell your product online can be confusing. There are so many options and it’s hard to know what the differences are. Why would you choose one over another? That’s why I’m walking you through five ways to sell your product online.
Just a note that this post does include affiliate links so I may make a small commission if you choose to use one of these platforms.
Five Ways To Sell Your Product On
One | Etsy
Etsy is on online market place where you get access to a large network of interested customers. It started out as a platform where you could only sell handmade products. Now, you’re able to sell products you’ve designed (but not produced) as long as this is disclosed on your page. Since you’re charged a fee for each listing, sale and transaction, Etsy came out as the highest cost seller.
Two | Shopify
Shopify is an online platform where you can use templates to build your own branded online store. Of all of the options that I looked at, I believe this is the easiest way for an independent designer to get their own branded store up and running and sell your product online.
Three | Big Commerce
Big Commerce is an online platform similar to Shopify. It offers a full suite of products that allow you to set up your own online store with templates and app integrations to help you manage all areas of your online business. Big Commerce offers several different options for payment processing which can make it difficult for a new user to understand what the true cost of operating a store would be. If you are looking at Shopify and Big Commerce as options to sell your product online, I would recommend signing up for both their free trails and taking them for a test drive.
Four | WooCommerce
WooCommerce is a piece of software that can be added to a WordPress site. This plugin allows you to sell product from your already established website. For someone that is starting from scratch (without a website), this would require a larger time commitment than the other platforms mentioned.
Five | Facebook Selling
Currently Facebook will only process transactions for limited Facebook Business pages in the US. This functionality will be rolling out to other markets soon but some might argue, this doesn’t really make it a great way to sell on line NOW. True, that’s why I want you to check out my video for the BONUS sixth way to sell your product online that is going to be huge for small businesses in the future.
To get all the details on how to sell your product online, be sure to watch the video. Some of the highlights include:
- The math on what each platform would cost you. I’ve done this based on a set standard that I applied to each platform.
- A BONUS 6th way to sell your product online that I go over at the end of the video.
- How to tie multiple platforms together to reach the most people with the least amount of additional effort.
